Restoran Thian Heong

after my satisfactory roast meat lunch at sun ming, i was eager to try this other place i stumbled upon near cheras’s leisure mall. also taking up two adjacent shop lots, this place offers more than roasted meats, serving also curry noodles, braised meats, vegetables, soups etc.

between the 3 of us, we ordered a mixed platter of roast duck (烧鸭), honey sesame chicken(蜜汁鸡), char siew (叉烧) and sausages (腊肠/膶腸). they also have 9 types of slow fire soup (炖汤) of which I ordered watercress soup (西洋菜汤). once again, you can have the option of having white rice or yellow rice.

Portion of the mixed platter was quite generous and the size of the roast duck is comparable to the meatier duck in sun ming. My favourite of the lot was the char siew, which was of the lean with bits of fat version (半肥瘦叉烧). It had some charred ends, which is just the way i like it. Adds to the flavour of the barbecued pork somehow. The watercress soup portion was bigger than expected, and is enough to share between two people. Clear in looks, but rich and flavourful in taste.

Lots of variety and quick service. Recommended if you want a quick and satisfying meal.
