It was my first time eating at the office blocks at Phileo Damansara 1 and I wasn’t feeling like Secret Recipe. Lucky politikus recommended Screaming Bananas, which served both asian or western fare. Headed there and browsed through the set lunch menu which offered quite a nice selection. After we made our choice, could bask in the Christmassy mood some more.

They had quite a few medium sized Christmas trees by some tables and our table happened to be one of them. It amused me to see how they only decorated the top half of the tree as the bottom half’s view was obscured by the tables. Lol.

I chose the Nasi Ulam set. One can have the option of beef rendang, chicken rendang or sotong sambal with the herbed rice. I chose the beef and it was tender and delicious. The rice was surprisingly good. Truly enjoyed it. Was served with blanched long bean, pickled vegetables, sambal and some crackers.

She ordered the “Chicken with Tomato Tarragon Sauce” which was served with the side of the day (bean salad) and fries. It was served a bit slower than mine, but it was piping hot! Not that mine wasn’t, but judging from the speed it was served, am sure it was pre-prepared. Her chicken was most probably fried upon ordering. It was quite delish too, and the tarragon sauce had quite a distinctive taste to it.
Frankly, am surprised with the decent food quality of this cafe. Guess I have this perception of bad tasting food at office blocks.
Won’t hesitate to come back should I ever be in the area again. However, I am still baffled as to why “Screaming Bananas”?? Heh.

Ah, a cafe that I used to go when I was working in Phileo 1. A good change if I was sick of eating nasi goreng in the Purnama Cahaya downstair. Just along block C there’s Village Cafe, which is a pork-free branch of Lorong Seratus Tahun of SS/2 fame.
epicuriousgirl says: thanks for the tip. something to look out for if i’m in the area next.
